Istanbul Nişantaşı University Library Donation Acceptance Policies
To contribute to the educational and research activities of Istanbul Nişantaşı University and to support academic and cultural development, we accept donations of information resources that maintain their scientific quality, are up-to-date, and possess social, cultural, and literary value.
Donations to our library are guided by the following principles:
Before a donation is made, a Donation Form prepared in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) is sent to the donor and signed. If the donor is an academic or administrative staff member, the form and book list are sent to the Human Resources Department and recorded in their personnel file.
A list of the desired resources is requested in advance for comparison with the library catalog. Materials that are physically intact and comply with the library’s collection policies are accepted as donations.
Materials that are not manuscripts or rare works and whose content is outdated are not accepted as donations. The following materials are not accepted as donations:
Publications that are physically damaged, missing pages, stamped, annotated, or drawn on
Photocopied materials
Publications that have not been cleaned or are poorly preserved
Newspaper promotions and publications with poor content/printing quality
Periodicals with poor binding integrity or single-issue magazines that do not integrate with the collection
Elementary and high school textbooks, mimeographed notes, lecture notes, etc.
Donated materials are placed according to the library classification system. They are not stored in a special shelf or section.
Donors’ names and surnames are added to the catalog records of donated materials. Donors can see which shelf the books are located on in the library system. A donation list is available to the user upon request.
All donations are expected to comply with licensing and copyright regulations and meet current and future educational and research needs.
Donors cannot subsequently claim any rights over the donated materials. Note: The library reserves the right to accept or reject donations. Materials that do not meet the specified criteria may be disposed of appropriately without being returned to the user.
